Cleveland Plain Dealer Clippings
November 9-14, 1996 in the Great Lakes

The following pictures were scanned from the Cleveland Plain Dealer (CPD) special section on "the Big Snow" published on November 17, 1996.

Snowcap accumulation on car roofs are worn with some pride by snowbelt denizens. It can be quite a shock for west-siders encountering these snowbelt commuters, say, in downtown Cleveland.

Shaker Square where this picture was taken is only about 6 or 7 miles from downtown Cleveland. The gradient of snowfall between Shaker Square and the downtown district was quite dramatic. This area was particularly hard hit with tree damage because the snow was so wet and heavy - perhaps the wettest/heaviest found in the storm.
